"I recently had a problem with my bike (used) that I had purchased last July. I had only put less than 3000 miles since my purchase (work & ride time dont share the same schedule). The problem is not the issue of the comments. My service expierence is the reason for the comments. I work in the automotive field and customer service is top priority. Saying what you can and will do and the following through on those promises is crucial to the survival of your business. I spoke with Clyde about my issue on a Tuesday and advised him of my problem and the length of time I have had the bike. He told me to bring it down so they could take a look at it and see what had happened. I ask if i could get some assistance because of the low mileage and time and he said he would see what he could do. I brought the bike down on Wednesday and he came out and help me unload it and took it right over to service for me. he introduced me to Rich (awesome quy) and Rich said they would take a look at it and he would call me and also said please call and check anytime. I called the following Tuesday and was advised the parts were ordered and what had happened and they should be in on Friday. I called on Friday morning and they said the parts were in and would try to get it done that afternoon. As sure as his word he called back and said the bike was ready but would need to call back with the total.(no problem). Again as sure as his word he called back on Saturday morning and gave a total, I said I dont think that's correct, i believe there is some assistance involved. Again he said " i will call you right back" no more than 20 minutes later he called back and gave a different total (GOD is SO GOOD). Tilley's,Clyde,Rich all of you are great. You did more than I could ever have ask for and then to top it all off when I came to pick the bike up Rich noticed something when he brought it around and took it right back in the shop and one of your awesome tech's (sorry didnt get his name) stopped what he was doing to put my bike back on the lift and make a needed adjustment. Thanks, Rich, your attention to detail makes a world of difference. You guys and ladies are the best. Thank you for making my Harley expierence worth the while. Dave, Sawmills NC"

"I saw the bike I wanted online on a Monday. I called your dealership and Clyde spoke with me. He was very helpful as I told him I couldnt get down there to Saturday. I told him I would call him back on Wednesday and check to see if the bike was still there. I called him on Wednesday and he said the bike was still there and asked if I wanted to put any money down, I told him I would go on faith that the bike would still be there when we got there on Saturday. I told him I would call back on Friday to make sure the bike was there. I called back on Friday morning and he said the bike was still there and he told me if no one was riding it that afternoon he would put my name on it. I called back on Friday afternnon and he said someone was riding the bike and he would call me back as soon as he knew the outcome. As true as his word he called back and said the bike was still there and he would hold it for me till Saturday. On Saturday my wife and I came to your dealership and the bike as promised the was there and we got to finally meet Clyde. What a awesome individual. We rode the bike and loved it. "Came in today for a tire change. Had my share of bad dealerships so I wanted to check out Tilley and see what there service was like. Really glad I did as I was treated respectfully by everyone and got a good price on a tire replacement and Travis did the work with pride and caring as if it belonged to him. Then to top that off had an exhaust leak I was not aware of but it was taken care of as well. "When told by the Harley dealer my '08 V-rod DX was ready to rock and roll having had the Screamin Eagle and Harley bigger verturis, bigger injectors, and bigger cams installed. We had Vance and Hines slip-ons and the Power Commander covered. Seemed that after the initial test ride, things didn't rock or roll all that well to suit me. They tried again to no avail. I get wind of a place called Tilley's. I call and ask for the in-house resident expert/guru of V-rods and am told there's such a person that really did exist. Quite the conversation ensued during which my suspicions concerning my bike's performance were redirected to an area that was overlooked but of significance. Things are fine in the world now. Thanks to a friendly conversation with a knowledgeable hand, Tilley's is it for me and anyone I get the privlege to send that way. "

"In September of 08 my son and I were riding through the Smokey Mountains. We exited the mountains at Ashville and took Rte 40 to Statesville. While traveling on 40 I noticed a shimmy in my back wheel. At first I thought the road was the cause of the shimmy but as I went to get on 77 north I had no brakes. We traveled about four miles before we could exit the road and check the bike. I discovered that the rear axle bearings were bad and had leaked the oil on the brake pads causing the brake failure. By this time the wheel was starting to wobble and a grinding sound sould be heard. By using my Sumo GPS we found Tilleys to be near and proceeded to slowly drive there. I was uncertain of what the outcome of this venture would be because I didn't buy the Heritage there. I went to the service department and told Rich Pope, the service manager, my problem. He checked the bike, wrote a work order and took my bike into the shop and fised it. I know the shop was busy that day because of all the people and bikes coming from the department getting work done. He not only fixed my back wheel but washed the bike when the work was done. My bike is 2005 Heritage Softtail Classic with 56,000 miles and this is the first trouble I had. While riding in unfamiliar territory and having a breakdown can be scary and give you apprehensive feelings. Mr. Pope and Tilleys were very friendly and very helpful and had me back on the road with a smile on my face in two hours. Thanks Tilleys John Strickler"

"I just wanted to drop a note and send along a thank you to one of your mechanics. Sunday 4-13 I came in after troubleshooting on my own to purchase an ignition coil for my '03 Heritage Softail. I asked at the parts counter for a mechanic to clarify a couple of questions before dropping the $100+ on the new coil. The mechanic that just happened to walk by was Bryan Fox who gladly assisted. With his expertise and a few minutes to test the coil I had aganst another at the store I walked out knowing that my ignition coil was actually OK. Based on his experience he advised that I purchase and install a relay that cost $9. When I got home and installed the relay the bike fired right up. In talking with Bryan he told me that he was actually not working and was in the shop on his own time. I wanted to go on record with this note telling the management at Tilley HD that you have got a great person working for you in Bryan Fox and that I appreciated his time and willingness to go out of his way to help me out. Bryan thanks and I owe you one!"

"I was on a trip to Atlanta from Cape Cod Massachusetts. I developed a reocker box leak that needed attention. I located the dealership via a billboard on Rt. 77. The service writer took a look at the problem and informed me what was going on. He got me in for the repair as soon as possible (happened to be lunch time). The tech was excellent and took care of the leaking gasket and replaced both. He also adjusted the drive belt that happened to be loose. The whole time I was waiting the staff of the dealership were very helpful and courteous; the receptionist even offered to have someone go and get me some lunch. I have since recieved two follow up calls making sure everything is still okay (nine months later). I have recieved a total of two MORE calls from Tilley HD after service than I have recieved from the dealer that I bought the bike from. "back in 03 i wanted a sportsbike but had a small budget, i found i buell blast in the cycle trader that tilley had, but by the time i convinced my dad to let me buy it it was too late when i got there it had been sold earlier that day, i was disapointed but after looking around i saw a 2003 sportster 883r i fell in love with it but at the time i couldant afford it! so i just kept dreaming and pestering clyde ever since i have an 04,05,06,and an 07 brochure all with clydes cards stapled to the front. a few years ago i still couldant afford a harley but i found a cheap honda shadow that i could. i liked that bike but the honda dealer experiance was terrible. i enjoyed my shadow but after a year and a half i finaly got i big promotion at work and as soon as i got off i went to tilleys and talked to clyde then on my next day off i went to tilleys and finally got my dream bike a 2006 883 ive had it for a few months now and put about a thousand miles on it i love the bike and the dealership i try to go there at least once a week and i will deffinatly by all my future bikes there!"

"Recently I made the decision to take the plunge and buy my first Harley. I used the internet to see if there was anything in my price range and found that only Tilley had something in my price range. Not only did they have something, they had 3 in my range. No other local dealership had anything close. I made contact with Clyde who invited me up to take a look. I was sold on a certain used bike but Clyde informed me of a 2006 he had just gotten in trade. I was not even remotely interested and had made my mind up to come check out a used 2001. Upon arriving I discovered I did not like the 2001 a bit and Clyde once again suggested the 2006. I was very wary as I used to be a car salesman myself, but Clyde was honest and straight forward the entire time. I ended up buying the 2006 for only $200 more than I was going to buy the 2001 for. I would recommend Tilley’s to everyone. Every person I came in contact with was professional and helpful and I plan to make the drive to Tilley’s for all my parts and service from now on. "

" I have drove by Tilley's since I was old enough to drive, I can remember it from when I only could ride a bicycle, if I went anywhere. I new Clyde from back in 86, and he had a Harley then, I just wasn't sure that was for me. I bought a Honda then in 86 and another in 89 and sold it just a few months, kids came along. I still wanted to know how it felt to ride a real bike. So while on my second tour of Iraq I stopped by the base "NEW CAR" sales office, discounted sales they tell you, and looked at their prices. I called Clyde talked with him about a new bike. He tells me to go online and see what they had and what the latest greatest out by Harley there was, so I did. I called him back told him what I was wanting to do, he says come on in when I got home on leave and he would hook me up. I left Iraq the next week, took 2 days to get home, got off the plane in Charlotte went home got in my car drove to Tilley's. Clyde seemed surprised to see me so soon, I told him I hadn't rode a bike in over 15 yrs and wasn't sure about getting anything real big at first. So he shows me evrything on the sales floor that was in the price range we talked about earlier, and to make a long story shorter, I went the very next morning and rode an 06" Sportster 1200L home, I might have put 750 miles on it before having to go back to Iraq. But it doesn't stop there, OH NO! I went on line to look at accesaries for my new ride and seen the 07's that were to come out in AUG-SEPT time frame. So I call back and this time I talked with Amanda Johnson. I told her I wanted to trade in my 06'Sportster for the 07' Softail Custom, she emailed me back the paper work I needed for my dad to sign for me and made the deal right over the internet dang near. I work in retail work myself in the civilian side, and the sales staff, even down to the lady that answers the phone, are by far the friendliest bunch I ever have had the pleasure of dealing with. I wish I had money to send them all t-shirts from Iraq. If I had known that going to Tilley's would have been that great, I would have done it years ago. I have sent several of my buddies from here there already, even met people from other states that have bought from Tilley's, they too say it's the only place to go for a new Harley, used ones as well. "

"I wanted to take a minute to express how wonderful the buying experience was at Tilley Harley-Davidson. I recently traded my 2005 Sportster for a 2006 Heritage Softail Classic, Peace Officer’s Special Edition. I located the bike online and immediately called the dealership to inquire. I spoke with Clyde and within 10 minutes I had a deposit on the bike. This week my wife and I made the 6-hour trip from the Outer Banks to Statesville. From the moment we walled through the door we felt like royalty. Through every step of the process the staff far exceeded our expectations for service and satisfaction. The manager gave us a fare trade on my bike and Allen Queen walked us through every step of the finance process making it almost painless. "For several years. I have been riding various metric street bikes. Mostly Honda CBR or Yamaha R6. And i have always loved the thrill of the speed and handling. But there was always the problem of comfort. After 100 miles or so, i would have to stop because of being cramped up or just tired from being bent over all day. But that all changed a few weeks ago when i decided to join the Harley family. I went to several different dealers, from Hickory to Wilkesboro and others, searching for the perfect bike for me. This took about 2 weeks or so, but on 4/06/2006, I decided to make the hour long trip down to Statesville NC and visit with the folks down at Tilleys. I wasn't sure why until i got there, but some of the other dealers told me it would be a wasted trip, and it wasn't worth the drive. But i am glad i "wasted my time" drivin down there. As soon as i walked thru the door i found out why the other dealers didn't want me to come. I felt like i was walking into the home of a long time friend. Don't want to say the name, but at one of the other dealers, i had to go and find someone to help me. and there was only one other customer in the store. As soon as i waled thru the door at Tilleys i was greeted. That, i think, is the most important position in the store. most people form there opinion of someone or some place in the first few seconds, and with someone at the front door to greet you with a smile and welcome you in, just makes you feel like you are in the right place. And i have to give a special thanks to Paul, my salesman. He didn't really try to push me, or "sell" me a bike. instead it seamed like he was just there to help me figure out what i wanted in a bike, and what was best for me. he took the time to show me around what was on the floor and in the back. After my bike was picked out, he helped find a few things to add to it. The guys in the service department did a great job of instaling my new bars and grips. It looked like it had come from the factory that way. Also the girls who helped me pick out a coat and helmet were very polite and really did a great job of getting me what i needed. Then when it was time to do all the paperwork, everything was explaind and questions answered in a way i could understand. And when it was finaly time to hit the road, Paul did a great job in explaining to me everything in the owners manual and on the bike. Over all it was an excellent experience, and i would and have already recommend anyone looking for a new bike, go to Tilleys. No one around here can touch the price or the service. "I have always purchased my Motorcycles from Mike Adkins, of Mike's Harley-Davidson, in Delbarton, WV, and will continue to do so. Having a "need for speed", I asked Mike what we could do to my Engine to get more Horsepower. He, (Mike Adkins), personally took me to Statesville, out on RT.70, to the old shop, and introduced me to Don Tilley. I had read about Don, and followed his career in Racing, and his pursuit of Horsepower, that pre-existed being personally introduced to him, for many years. I thought he was too "Famous" and "Important", to meet a "little guy" like me. I was wrong. He treated me like he had known me all his life! Like I was Family. I told him all I wanted was to be in the front! Like Don, I have an insationable need for speed! That's a tall order, when you ride an Ultra Classic. At any rate, Don finished that Motor in Feb. of 2004. Neal Taylor, under Don's direction, and the Team at Tilley's gave me exactly what I wanted. No Harley has been able to get around my "Led Sled!" I must also mention the work performed on my Bike was flawless. I have really abused that Engine, and it has been trouble free, to date. Neal Taylor treats my Motorcycle like it was his. I like that. Mrs. Tilley, (Robinette), John Cartner, Richie, Vicky, Donna, the whole crew makes me feel like I'm home when I visit the Dealership. I live 5 minutes from a Harley Dealer in WV. Why do I travel 125 miles to Statesville, or 80 miles to Mike's in Delbarton, WV? Because they treat me like I'm family. The MoCo needs more Dealers like Don Tilley and Mike Adkins. "Greetings, I have to list my experience at Tilley's Statesville store as 5-star.... only because there was no choice for 10 or 20 or 100 stars! I passed through earlier this month looking for a place to unload my bike and leave my truck enroute to Bike Week. Other dealers I passed weren't interested in giving me the time of day when they discovered I wasn't planning on spending a bundle at their dealerships. At Tilley's I was welcomed like a long lost friend. Vickie was incredibly friendly and helpful as were Rich & Brandon back in Service. Not only did they get me unoloaded but they even washed the northern salt & winter crud off my new Ultra..... and wouldn't take a dime for it! I could go on and on raving about the friendly service I received but I'd quickly run out of adjectives and superlatives. Tilley's is the type of dealership I *wish* I lived close enough to to do business with on a regular basis! And I'm happy to relate my experience to everyone I know as well as broadcast it far and wide via Internet. Once again, thank you to everyone who made my experience so pleasant.
